Gen Con Game Design Academy

Join the inaugural Game Design Certificate Program

This was an exceptional year at Gen Con, hosted at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. And, this year they also presented their an inaugural Game Design Certificate Program, in Partnership with Ferris State University. The Game Design Certificate program held earlier in July emphasized practical learning combined with expert insights. The best part for those interested is it will continue throughout The Best Four Days In Gaming™, July 31—August 3, giving everyone to enjoy the all Gen Con has to offer.

Whether an aspiring game designer, educator, or gaming enthusiasts, the program will enhance your knowledge of game-based learning and design methodologies. The collaborative and interactive setting allows everyone to experience the process and share ideas.

"We're combining the creativity and community associated with Gen Con with the structure and rigor that characterize an academic learning experience," said Dr. Andrew Peterson, a lead developer of the program and adjunct professor at Ferris State University. "This certificate bridges the gap between game design as a hobby and a viable professional career."

Those in the program will learn how to take the Game Design Certificate and transfer credits to their chosen higher education institution like Ferris State University. The innovative partnership with the University is a badge of accomplishment and will be popular.
