Living Anthologies: A Memoir Writing Program for Adults 55+

The Boca Raton Museum Of Art will soon present -  Living Anthologies: A Memoir Writing Program for Adults 55+. The 10-week, arts-integrated memoir writing program for 16 adults aged 55 and older shares their interpretation of the museum's art collection. Using the museum artwork as a prompt, the folks put pen to paper to craft personal nonfiction writing with the guidance of FAU graduate mentors. Look for the publishing and reading of the anthology available at the Boca Raton Public Library. Later in the new year a commissioned public art installation will also be presented at the Downtown Library inspired by the writings.

Each season the museum presents thoughtful exhibitions, engaging programs and entertaining events to join. Here are several more exhibitions to join:

Drawing with Scissors: Collage from the Collection

While in school teachers advised us not to run with scissors - they said nothing about drawing with them. Curator, Kelli Bodle, shares Drawing with Scissors: Collage from the Collection now through Mid January. In this exhibition the Boca Raton Museum Of Art brings together artists from across the world to view their unique perspectives. From New York’s minimalism of the 1930s to maximalist assemblage in 2010s Miami, collage artists mix and remix materials and ideas.

Stitching the Revolution: Quilts as Agents of Change

Travel the country roads and highways beyond Boca Raton and you may spot a barn quilt across the state. These are colorful works often representing families like creative colors of arms. In January, the museum will also present Stitching the Revolution: Quilts as Agents of Change. This is a amazing showcase of historic and contemporary quilts that unravel the history of quilt making as a powerful tool for communicating revolutionary ideas.
