Olympic Museum of Puerto Rico - Game Spirit Thrives Here



In this feature we honor Puerto Rico's team spirit and participation in the recent Pan American Games as we look ahead to the upcoming Games in Paris. One place to learn about the history of these games is the Olympic Museum of Puerto Rico that highlights the accomplishments of the countries athletes', history of sports, and has much more to experience.


Within the museum are permanent and temporary exhibitions focused on Puerto Rican sports. Discover three exhibit areas featuring 30 sports represented by the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee. The history of the country's Olympic history during the 20th century is also revealed throughout the museum.

Puerto Rico Takes Gold At Pan American Games


Puerto Rico recently participated in the eighteenth Pan American Games. In these games, Adriana Díaz won the first gold medal for Puerto Rico on November 1st in the singles table tennis event. The medal gave her the distinction of being the highest absolute medalist in the Pan American history of Puerto Rico with eight: four gold (two in individual, one in team, one in doubles), one silver and three bronze (one in team, one in mixed double and one in women's double).


Other highlights of the games include the first gold medalist athlete for Puerto Rico in archery is Jean Pizarro Latorre. And, in Karate, Janessa Fonseca Romero from San Juan became the first woman to win an absolute gold medal and the first for the female gender in Puerto Rican karate.
