Wolf Sightings
Animals encounters in the winter are amazing. Wolves and coyotes wander the woodlands and are always on the move. Throughout January, the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem host fun events like the Wolves of North America program that is especially fun for families. Kids will learn about the mythology surrounding wolves and the important role of wolves in the natural world. This is an exciting time for wolves; they’re out searching for prey as their growing pups experience their first winter season.
Eagle Sightings
Another favorite activity during the winter is the return of the bald eagles to the Hudson Valley. These predators were on the brink of extinction, and now have returned to nest in February at Croton Point Park. During this time the EagleFest will take place and include live bird-of-prey shows, educators with viewing scopes observing wild eagles, children’s activities, food trucks, and 25+ environmental organizations — all in heated tents!
