Curiosity Inspired At The MEC
When Conner Prairie announced its newest expansion, we were eager to see what they would offer curious minds. After more than two years of building, imagining, and tinkering, the brand‑new Museum Experience Center (MEC) is finally ready for guests.
Inside the MEC, there are all kinds of hands‑on adventures, starting with the brand‑new Spark! Lab. This is a space where everyone can dive into engineering puzzles, artsy creations, and invention challenges that make learning feel like playtime.
Peek Behind The Stories At Conner Prairie
From the fireside whispers to tales of triumph along the trails, Conner Prairie is about storytelling and they have many historical objects in their collection that reveal these stories. Now, they even have a place where you can sneak a peek of the historic treasures preserved. Their behind‑the‑scenes collections let you get up close to some of the 20,000+ historical objects they’ve gathered over the years. It’s like opening a giant time‑capsule closet.
Promised Land as Proving Ground
Speaking of history, another new permanent exhibit, Promised Land as Proving Ground, is powerful and moving. This exhibit explores centuries of African American history in Indiana — from pre‑colonial Africa all the way to today, and features:
• Faith traditions
• Foodways and cooking demonstrations
• Music, rhythm, and cultural expression
• Stories of activism and resilience
Shared Stories: The Wellspring
The stories we share shape our perspectives, and Conner Prairie has many tales to tell. And, what a better way to bring those stories to life than in The Wellspring, a massive, immersive “artscape” that feels part‑forest, part‑storybook, and part‑dreamworld.
The Trails at Conner Prairie
If you love the outdoors, the new trails are calling. These paths wind through woods, along riverbanks, and into the natural spaces that shaped this land long before pioneers ever arrived. It’s the perfect place to stroll, explore, or breathe in the moments shared.
Kroger Symphony on the Prairie
Let’s not forget the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has officially announced its Kroger Symphony on the Prairie season — a full lineup of blockbuster film scores, iconic pop tributes, patriotic celebrations, and family‑friendly musical adventures under the Indiana sky.
