Join the Indianapolis Zoo as they welcome the arrival of several reptiles - giant tortoises, that include both Galapagos and Aldabra species. These gentle giants, some weighing hundreds of pounds, will hang out in a special exhibit with ample space to roam and bask in the sun. And, we have the opportunity to observe these ancient animals up close, learning about their unique behaviors and the challenges they face in the wild.
Zoobilation 2025: Giant Shellabration
To celebrate the arrival of these magnificent tortoises, the Indianapolis Zoo in White River State Park is hosting a special fundraising event called "Zoobilation 2025: Giant Shellabration." This exciting evening will feature unique animal encounters, delicious food and drinks, and live entertainment, all while supporting the zoo's conservation efforts.
The Indianapolis Zoo will also host the Zoopolis 500, an annual tradition that features a hilarious tortoise race. Join the fun as these slow-and-steady creatures compete for the title of "fastest tortoise." Also featured are Conservation Talks, in which we learn about the threats facing endangered species and how we can help protect them. The best part of our visit is the Animal Encounters when we can get up close and personal with some of our favorite zoo animals.
