Travel Osceola County, Florida, and there are several areas for birding and nature walks while on a vacation. Kissimmee is the top destination in Florida to see Bald Eagle. This June 20th is National American Eagle Day, and ideal time to visit local birding trails and learn about these birds.
The Snail Kite in Kissimmee is a favorite spot of photographer, Carla Rhodes, guest of The Kissimmee Experience. She picked this region to hopefully find the Roseate Spoonbill and the Snail Kite.
The federally-designated endangered Snail Kite is mid-sized raptor that hunts along the lake shores or marshes. It's in these waterways the Snail Kite finds Pomacea, or apple snails. And, these birds just happen to have a unique curved bill which is used to pluck snails out of their shells.
