Spirited Lore Of The Hannah House

Spirited Lore Of The Hannah House

Indianapolis offers classic and modern examples of architecture. Often, the oldest of the structures are not only ornate in design, they delight guests with spirited lore. One such place, said to be haunted, still has charm 165 years later, the Hannah - Oehler - Elder House.

The Hannah House has hosted festivals, weddings, and other community activities. The most popular events are the paranormal investigations along with the haunted house. One question remains when visiting - Is the stately estate part of Indiana’s Underground Railroad history? Walk the halls inside and more questions arise - Did a tragic fire so long ago claim the lives of Railroad passengers?

Are the rumors true? There is a chance to find out when joining one of the tours that are held on the first Sunday of the month between 1 - 4pm. Once inside, the chills come when whispers of hauntings and happenings arise. Several times fellow guests shared tales from their childhood about unexplained sightings of men, women and children. Then, another guest mentions a breeze, or, was it something else walking the hall? Then again, fans of the horror film, Witch House, may entertain a different opinion.

Rumored to be haunted, the Hannah - Oehler - Elder House still has charm 165 years later.
