The roots of jazz music run deep in Richmond and Wayne County, Indiana. To walk in the footsteps of history here means a toe tapping good time as you discover where superstars like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Hoagland Carmichael and Jelly Roll Morton played and recorded. In fact, a tour of the Gennett Walk of Fame is a suggested stop while in the region.

Walk of Fame Medallions


You’ll find the Gennett Walk of Fame is located at 201 South 1st street in Richmond, IN, and it honors many exceptional musiclegends. Along the trail are three-dimensional bronze and colored tile mosaic markers shaped like 78rpm records. These medallions include a small bronze plaque identifying the artist and their contribution to the history of music.
