The Mob Museum Celebrates The End Of Prohibition

A celebration of friendship and adventure

Raise a toast to the spirit of adventure. From the finest vineyard to distilleries - the world of spirits is as varied as those who enjoy it. Although, it was certainly difficult to enjoy any form of spirits during prohibition. One place that shares the history of this time is The Mob Museum.

Named as one of “20 Places Every American Should See” by Fox News and Budget Travel Magazine, the Mob Museum is host many exciting events like the special celebration honoring Repeal Day, which is December 5th. The Prohibition end on December 5, 1933, and together with The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, The Mob Museum invites you to celebrate this anniversary with festivities that will include the First-Annual “Boss of the Bars” Competition, Backyard Bootlegger Party and VIP Speakeasy.

The evening kick's off with Oscar Goodman, and Toast the End of Prohibition. Registered guest receive a souvenir shot glass to remember the occasion. Your Speakeasy tickets grant you entry to the VIP Party, live entertainment by 1920s-style cabaret dancers, unlimited Prohibition-era cocktail samplings, complimentary draft beer all evening, heavy hors d’oeuvres and free cocktails from 6-7 p.m.. Plus, you'll have access to the Museum and entry into the Backyard Bootlegger.

A highlight of the evening's events will be the First Annual “Boss of the Bars” Competition that is open to establishments from downtown's dynamic nightlife scene. Who will win the “Boss of the Bars” competition? Well, there will be plenty of expert cocktail creators from neighborhood bars creating Prohibition-era cocktails to party goers.

Judges of the Annual “Boss of the Bars” Competition will include Drew Levinson, director of strategic activation and master mixologist, Wirtz Beverage; Jolene Mannina, head of culinary arts, Life Is Beautiful Festival; Michael MacDonnell, director of beverage and master mixologist, Monte Carlo Resort and Casino; and Al Mancini, food blogger and writer for Vegas Seven—will award the winning bar The Mob Museum’s Repeal Day Cup, a monumental, custom-designed trophy sure to become the most coveted prize among bars.

The fun continues with a Roaring 20s Costume Contest, so come decked out in your swankiest 1920s or 30s attire for a chance to win to-die-for prizes, including a two-night stay at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino, dinner at The Pub at Monte Carlo and tickets to Blue Man Group. Judges will include Jen aler, operating partner, Stitch Factory; Deirdre Clemente, associate director, public history program, University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Andrea Bennett, editor-in-chief, VEGAS Magazine and Debrae Little, former costume designer for Placido Domingo, Bon Jovi, Grace Jones and LL Cool J.

Trip Planning

Las Vegas has a storied past that includes the Mob, and to discover more about the city's history visit the Mob Museum, which is thrilling story of organized crime and law enforcement. Through bold and intriguing exhibits you'll explore what is one of the largest collections of Mob and related law enforcement memorabilia. There are over 600 artifacts, and vivid presentations bring true stories of Mob history to life.
