The 19th-century village is a fun lace for families to explore and interact with the people, animals, objects and routines of life in Central Indiana in 1836. Visit a one-room schoolhouse, help with chores or watch a tradesperson at work. Meet up with local folks like the blacksmith and ladies weaving. Each trip is different and a chance to learn new skills taught by those in the village. Another treat are the charming stories of days gone by.
Living history can be discovered around every corner. Imagine life in Indiana during the Civil War - it was on July 8, 1863 when Confederate General John Hunt Morgan and his forces crossed the Ohio River into Indiana. Our forces fought, and there are soldiers roaming the village, who will share their tales of triumph and tragedy. Oh yes, children will have a blast join the forces and prepare to defend the Prairie!
As enjoy settles across the rolling fields everyone begins to gather for a evening filled with music - it's the annual Symphony on the Prairie! This festive event takes place throughout the summer and is a perfect for a evening picnic enjoying great music.
