This year celebrates the 120th Anniversary of the Wright Brothers first powered flight on December 17, 2023. Imagine what a thrilling moment it was when brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright successfully flew their plane for a full 12-seconds. The 1903 flight was a amazing task, accomplished near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
We're excited to announce that the National Park Service has partnered with the First Flight Society to celebrate the anniversary of powered flight by hosting a free event at the Wright Brothers National Memorial, located at 1000 North Croatan Highway in Kill Devil Hills, NC.
The spirited occasion kicks off at 9 a.m. on Sunday, December 17, 2023, and honors Walter and Olive Ann Beech, American aviators and early aviation entrepreneurs, who co-founded the Beechcraft (Beech Aircraft Company) in 1932.
