Festive Spring Events To Enjoy In Dover, Delaware


A toast to the capital city of Dover that has a rich in colonial history. In fact it is where the U.S. Constitution was first ratified, and throughout town you'll discover many of the historic structures were important stops on the Underground Railroad. Race fans will enjoy joining the NASCAR-MBNA held around Memorial Day Weekend at the Dover Speedway. This is part of the exciting series, and includes the stars of NASCAR's Sprint, Busch and Truck Series, who battle the high banks of the Monster Mile.

When visiting Dover be sure to visit Delaware Made, which is located in a building that dates to 1775. It is here that you can learn about taking a historic walking tour of Dover as well as explore crafts and artistic creations by Delaware artisans.



May in Dover is filled with exciting events to enjoy with family and friends, including the Delaware State Museum's Archeology Festival. Held at the Delaware Archeology Museum, located at 316 S. Governor's Avenue. This festival features archeology exhibits, flint knapping, artifact identification and more fun for the whole family. Or join festivities at Old Dover Days that celebrates the history of Delaware's capital city with food, entertainment, parade, craft fair, demonstrations and more.

Old Dover Days takes places in Downtown Dover at the Legislative Mall. The Governor's House at Woodburn and Hall House will also celebrate Old Dover Days and be open for tours. Entertainment at Governor's House, located at 151 Kings Highway in Dover has featured colonial dancing and music.

Gardeners will enjoy the Delaware Herb Festival, which showcases hand crafted items by locals and vendors, including soaps, candles, plants and aromatherapy. The Delaware Herb Festival has been held at 866 N. DuPont Hwy in Dover, and has also included relaxing treatments by massage therapists and helpful environmental information as well as live music and gardening products.

Delaware offers shoppers the opportunity to enjoy a tax-free spending spree throughout the state. The State offers outlet centers in Rehoboth and Wilmington, and several shopping malls. Many of Delaware’s small towns have great boutiques and antique shops, plus historic and festive events to enjoy.
