Westchester - Beyond 4th of July Celebrations

Sail on to a great year, America!

Happy 4th of July!

The 4th of July holiday brings together many must see events to celebrate, and here are a few happening in the region of Westchester, New York.

Westchester Sail4th 250

Fireworks will light up the skies over the 4th, and adding to the excitement is Sail4th 250 in Westchester. The city is one of the best places outside New York City to experience Sail4th 250, where boats give way to the Dutch tall shipOosterschelde, arrived in Yonkers on July 1. Prepare for these Class B tall ships to sail through Long Island Sound from Rye on July 3. Then, catch the International Aerial Review over the Hudson River on July 4.

NY State United World Cup Watch Experience

Experience the excitement of the World Cup together. The New York State United – 2026 World Cup Watch Experience is free, and this statewide initiative features large-scale, family-friendly community viewing events like the World Cup Final watch party at Kensico Dam Plaza. Whether you’re a soccer fan or not, these Watch Experiences will include entertainment, activities, and special moments for everyone to enjoy.

Beyond The 4th Celebrations

While the 4th celebrations will fade there’s always something fun to do in the region like the new Summer Saturdays in North Salem. See the  Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard website for the full schedule that will feature themed outdoor evenings through August filled with live music, food trucks, craft beverages. Plus, there will be family-friendly activities and seasonal experiences ranging from jazz nights and dueling pianos to rodeo-themed celebrations and Caribbean-inspired events.

Embrace the moment of wonder with mermaids

Those traveling in the Sleepy Hollow region around July 18 can join The Sleepy Hollow Mermaid Festival. This magical community event returns to Kingsland Point Park for a whimsical waterfront celebration on the Hudson River with mermaid parades on land and water. The day is filled with things to do like costumed paddleboarders and kayakers, live music, environmental programming, food, along with  activities celebrating river culture and community.
