Drop-in Earth Day Scavenger Hunt

Think beyond the city lights on a visit to New York - Get out and experience programs and activities at the parks. The John Boyd Thatcher State Park has several events planned throughout seasons. Coming up soon at the state park are the following programs:

Meet at the Visitor Center to catch the Drop-in Caves and Geology program. This presentation is by Thom Engel, vice-president of the Northeast Cave Conservancy, who will discuss the importance of the caves and preservation.

Register for the Drop-in Earth Day Scavenger Hunt at the park by calling 518-872-0800. Start the day at the Nature Center between 9am and 3pm to pick up Earth Day Scavenger Hunt information. Follow the clues and later, bring the completed scavenger hunt back to the Nature Center for a prize.

Check out the Watercolor Wildflowers program and other creative activities that invites us to take a walk on the wild side at Thatcher State Park.

Go to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation website to discover hidden gems at nature centers, events to join, and wander scenic trails in parks across New York. On the NY Parks site you'll also find details on camping, travel tips, and any safety alerts within the parks.

Got to the Discover Albany website to explore trip ideas for current festivals, attractions, and natural beauty to experience in the region.
