The quiet moments spent on the water are refreshing. This year is going to be exciting because it is the 60th Anniversary of Monroe Lake. Look for many festive events to join this October, and here are several suggestions:
October 6th: Tour of the Monroe Water Treatment Plant with the City of Bloomington Utilities and Friends of Lake Monroe.
October 12th: Hike to see some Crinoid fossils at Allens Creek SRA.
October 17th: Join a kayak tour at Pine Grove SRA with Friends of Lake Monroe.
October 18-20: Special programming at various locations around Monroe Lake.
Did You Know? On October 24, 1964, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially opened Monroe Reservoir. This is the biggest reservoir in Indiana, and home to nesting Bald Eagles.
Monroe Reservoir is a favorite destination for over a million people for fun activities and recreation each year.
