The Historical Society shares not only stories and preserves history - the organization celebrates it at events planned throughout the year, including the following activities to join:
Civil War Living History Weekend
Looking ahead to September 21 & 22, 2024 - mark the calendars for the 4th Bi-Annual Civil War Living History Weekend that is free and open to the public. Held at Tawawa Park, located at 12 Tawawa Dr. in Sidney, the Civil War Living History Weekend will feature Civil War presentations, reenactment battles, and period sutlers selling their wares.
Down Town Ghost Tour
Take a stroll on the Down Town Ghost Tour this October 9 and 10, 2024. Members of the the Shelby County Historical Society receive a discount on this entertaining tour. The tour might just include a few mystery guests along the way!
Christmas of Yesteryear
December 7, 2024 - 11:00 am to 4:00 pm when the Ross Center and the Wallace Center will shine bright this season for Christmas of Yesteryear. This is a special time to come out and celbrate the 25th Christmas of Yesteryear wiith treats, photos with Santa, a gingerbread house, and more to experience at this free event!
Wreaths Across America at Graceland Cemetery
Later, in the month is a presentation by Wreaths Across America on December 14, 2024 - 12:00 pm @ Graceland Cemetery. The pick up time for Wreath starts at 10:00 am at Graceland. Program starts at noon and wreath laying directly afterwards. If you are a veteran or know a veteran that would like to participate in the ceremony, please contact their office, 937-498-1653. All are welcome at this wreath laying event!
