The St. Louis Zoo is excited for the 2027 opening of WildCare Park, designed to be an memorable park and conservation center in north St. Louis County. This ambitious project promises to be a haven for endangered species and a major economic driver for the region.
“WildCare Park is more than just an animal park,” said Dwight Scott, President & CEO of the Saint Louis Zoo. “It’s a place where endangered animals can thrive, while also generating significant economic benefits for our community.”
Funded through philanthropy, external financing, and local tax revenue from Prop Z (passed in 2018), WildCare Park represents a $230 million investment. Thanks to Prop Z, St. Louis County residents will enjoy free admission to this exciting new attraction.
“WildCare Park will be a major draw for tourists and a boon for the north county economy,” said St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page. “The Zoo is already a beloved local and national destination, and WildCare Park is poised to become another must-see in the St. Louis region.”
WildCare Park Adventure and Conservation
Public Adventure - When the WildCare Park opens we can embark on an unforgettable safari, encountering herds of animals roaming freely across sprawling meadows and natural forests.
Conservation Hub - The Kent Family Conservation and Animal Science Center, made possible by the generosity of the Jerry and Judy Kent Family, will be dedicated to research and breeding programs for endangered and threatened species.
Currently, 17 animals call WildCare Park home, with more to come by the 2027 opening. The initial focus will be on endangered ungulates (hoofed mammals) like zebras, rhinos, and giraffes, alongside kangaroos, birds, and other threatened species.
