Hiking a trail, we came across a busy squirrel planting his nut. The determined squirrel cared nothing about us as we watched him dig, dig, dig, then stuff his nut into the hole he crafted. The simple moment was a delight to admire and is just one example of nature that awaits to be enjoyed at national and state parks, and wildlife and recreation areas across the country.
To discover the opportunities at these destinations along with programs and activities to join visit your state’s DNR site. For example, the current Indiana Recreation Guide is available now as well as the Fishing Regulations Guide for download. Free printed copies of each will be available at local retail outlets, state parks, lakes and other DNR properties soon.
These DNR resources provide helpful information on state parks, state forests, lakes, fish and wildlife areas, nature preserves, state park inns, and other DNR properties. The guide includes a facilities chart and news about accessibility and fees.
Look for these guides at the parks, and also pick up an annual entrance pass for state park properties. See the Department of Natural Resources - (DNR) website for updates, camping and lodging, and special events like the upcoming eclipse.
Happy Travels!
