America's Polo Cup - USA vs Australia

The America's Polo Cup will culminate with the Battle of the Coral Sea Gala in Early May followed by the World Cup at their Host Club, Capitol Polo Club in Potomac, Maryland. The First polo match will be the NPL presenting the NY Empires vs. Washington DC Patriots, followed by First Chukker Polo Match.

The main polo match will be the World Cup to feature the USA being challenged by Australia in a weekend filled with Live Concerts, polo, fashion, wine, beer, music, Military exhibitions, family fun and a spectacular fireworks show that rivals the 4th of July in Washington D.C. Friday night's Battle of the Coral Sea Gala and Rockin the Runway show will feature a performance by the USO, American Idol star Michael Johns and then a full runway show. Proceeds from the Land Rover America's Polo Cup benefits Journey for the Cure, a not for profit public charity.

USA World Championships Face Off Against Australia In America's Polo Cup. American Idol superstar Michael Johns, originally from Australia, held a private preview performance at the DC National Mall in September. In Early May he will perform a full concert May during the two event that feature the Australia vs. USA World Championships. Michael will be singing popular hits to include Dream On, We are the Champions, We will Rock you, and many more favorites. It is also confirmed that the "Rockin the Runway" Fashion Show & "Battle of the Coral Sea" themed gala is slated during the event. Michael Johns will also be on stage for this private event in which guests can reserve tables for either of these upcoming major events.

At the America's Polo Cup this past May 2008, the Embassy of Australia publicly accepted and announced that Australia has officially challenged the United States for the America's Polo World Cup to take place at the Capitol Polo Club in May. This challenge includes Sports, Fashion, Food, Wine & Musical Diversity.

In September the America's Cup was on display to the public to view and take photographs of during the pre-event celebration at the DC National Mall Polo Grounds. The Cup will then be relocated to Embassy of Australia until America's Polo Cup Eve in Early May.

Both the Australians and the Americans are equally confident in an upcoming victory for their country. Team captain and President Tareq Salahi comments, "The US Polo Team is very proud to have won back the Americas Cup when we played the Italians last year - we recognize that the Australians are incredibly competitive and the US Polo Team will be preparing between now and 2009 to keep the Cup here in America!"
