Culture and Creativity At Brown County History Center

See the Brown County History Center for historic sites in town.

While on a visit to Nashville, Indiana drop in to the The History Center to learn about Brown County's arts and cultural treasures. Within this center you'll find a Full Genealogical Library along with a Photo Collection and Oral Histories and Transcripts.

We visit often because there is much to discover among the  collection of historic items and stories.  Each year they also host several events including a Pioneer Women's Quilt Exhibit in June. There is a Fall Gathering in September, and the Abe Martin Bazaar is held in November.

After exploring the center, stroll over to the Brown County Pioneer Museum and Old Log Jail just across the street. The historic structures to visit reveal how the pioneers lived their daily lives. It's a great opportunity to share family stories and snap some memorable photos as well!

If you're starting to get hungry we have a suggestion and it's across from the Pioneer Museum. Try a tasty meal at the Trolley’s Barbecue Restaurant. This is some of best BBQ in Brown County. The  special includes a BBQ sandwich, chips, pickle slice, potato salad, and a drink - perfect for sharing.

Later, visit the art galleries in Brown County or one of the monthly Art Walks  - a wonderful time to explore the stunning pieces of art found in and surrounding Nashville, Indiana.

Have a great time in Brown County!
