North Dakota Legendary Expereinces

Deer wandering woods

North Dakota has a legendary history that provokes imagines of beautiful landscapes where deer roam, and cowboys rustling cattle. One thing about traveling are the stories that capture the history of a place like those of people like Theodore Roosevelt, Sitting Bull, General Custer, Lewis & Clark and Sakakawea, who made North Dakota legendary.

In North Dakota, "Legendary" describes more than the, recreation, authentic experiences and attractions. It describes a transformative quality that brings out the best in people. In Roosevelt, it brought out a president. In Roger Maris, it brought out a home run hero. These are the stories you'll discover and more than imagined while exploring North Dakota, and we'll start our journey in Fargo.

Fargo, North Dakota’s downtown is brimming with metropolitan flair, intellectual energy and a funky feel with a prairie price. When searching for a place to relax during your visit to Fargo the trendy Hotel Donaldson is a great choice. This boutique, upscale hotel dedicated to the arts has 17 unique suites, each featuring the work of one local artist. Along with these suites, the hotel features locally grown dining in the HoDo Restaurant. Three lounge spaces within the hotel — the HoDo lounge, Stokers and the rooftop Sky Prairie — provide eclectic space to relax, a wide range of beverages as well as a diverse assortment of performances by musicians, poets and other artists.

For the night owls who've arrived and want to enjoy a bit to eat the Drunken Noodle is a local favorite that serves sushi and noodle bowls up until 3 a.m. The upscale atmosphere of Monte’s on Broadway is the perfect dinner date destination. While shoppers, the business community and students keep the area hopping all day, downtown is just as vibrant at night with live music and entertainment ranging from the pub feel of Rooters, to poetry readings at Atomic Coffee to live bands at Dempsey’s Irish Pub, and dancing at the Old Broadway.

While visiting check out the local shops that offer an eclectic mix of selections. Globetrotters will feel the world beat in O’Day Cache with its international mix of home décor and fashion. The designer duds at Lena K. and Scandinavian modern furniture at Scan Design, to name a few of the boutiques found downtown, create a great range of shopping. Broadway is capped by the gloriously quirky gifts and good books found at Zandbroz.

For an evening of entertainment visit the iconic, art deco Fargo Theater. The Theater, along with the Plains Art Museum, serve as cultural and entertainment anchors to downtown. The theater carries a full schedule of plays, festivals, special events, concerts and independent films, while the Museum is a showcase of rare and celebrated Midwestern art interspersed with international touring exhibits.

Speaking of entertainment, if you're a die-hard rocker who likes NickleBack, you can catch them and other acts at the FargoDome, located at 1800 N. University Dr. NickleBack kicks off their tour in May, with Special Guests Bush, Seether, and My Darkest Days. For a current schedule of upcoming events, concerts, and entertainment at the FargoDome call 701-241-9100 or visit http://www.fargodome.com/events.php. And, these are just a few of the highlights to enjoy in Fargo; a city with a funky vibe and more than imagined to experience!
