Located at 201 Lake Street in Shreveport, Louisiana, we arrived at the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel on a somewhat cloudy day to join our friends for Mardi Gras. We've never visited Shreveport before so it was an exciting escape. We looked forward to joining our friends, and catching up with our dear friend, Merle. She's a comedian, literally, and always makes us laugh.
Checking into the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel was a breeze and within minutes we were guided to our room; a cozy spot just down the hall from the Business Center, and Bar. Let's see Business or Bar? We figured we'd have to visit both eventually, but for the moment we would relax before our adventure began. One thing is a must when traveling and that is a comfortable bed, which the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel has, and the pillows are especially fluffy. If we had not been on a schedule we would have probably fall asleep the moment we laid down.
We did not realize how close to everything that the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel is until we drove around with our friend, Nishia, who calls Shreveport home. Not far away is the LSU Medical Center and the Shriners Hospital, and the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel has a shuttle services that takes patients who need treatment to either hospital. Just blocks away are several Casinos, and once again the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel has shuttle service to each as well as service to the Louisiana Boardwalk, where you can shop til you drop, catch a movie or evening a great dinner at one of the local restaurants.
Shreveport, Louisiana is such an amazing town for families; there are so many entertaining sites to see, plenty of festivals to enjoy, and recreation to enjoy. The people in Shreveport are also some of the nicest people we've met, and it was no different at the while we were staying at the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel. When we needed anything there was always someone one hand to help us, especially when it came to directions to local attractions. The hotel also has plenty of space to accommodate large groups, and with their spacious business center, meeting space, and banquet facilities available you can hold special events or business meeting and still be close to enjoy time off exploring the town of Shreveport. The shuttle service is really nice because it goes about everywhere you need to go, including the airport.
When it comes to food the complimentary Breakfast Buffet is great as well as affordable. We love the staff, who were polite and always checking to see if we needed a refill on coffee or anything else while we dined. Everyone at the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel was also excited that The Saints were in the Big Game, and kept us updated on any news about Super Bowl parties and of course, the Mardi Gras festivities. Speaking of Mardi Gras, the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel also has King Cake you can sample during Mardi Gras time. It seemed similar to fluffy pastry with cream cheese and nuts, although there are some with fruit fillings as well. Inside the King Cakes you order from local bakeries is a small plastic baby, which is a Mardi Gras tradition. The baby is represents the baby Jesus and is said to be good luck, or in other cases, the one who finds the baby is also the one who buys the next cake.
Along with excellent service, the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel's guest rooms feature cable satellite television with HBO and free high-speed Internet access. The Suites are very spacious, and have kitchenettes, whirlpool tubs and some have fireplaces. They would be perfect for a family getaway or extended stay, where you can kick off yourself and enjoy the feeling of a home away from home. There is also a outdoor swimming pool in a nice courtyard, which would be a great place to relax in the warmer weather, plus a fully equipped fitness center.
We thought the best part of the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel was its location. It's centrally located within walking distance to the nearby IMAX Theater and the amazing Sci-port Discover Center that children will love. Shreveport business district is also just blocks away, as well is the Barksdale Air Force Base. The Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel has a cozy lobby with a comfortable seating area downstairs, as well as one upstairs. This was a great area to relax and talk to our friends while we were waiting for the shuttle of Nishia to arrive. We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Chateau Suite Hotel, not only for its location, affordability, and comfort of rooms, but for the exceptional service of its friendly staff!
