Known as the nation's Summer Capital, Rehoboth Beach is a popular places for an escape for those who live in Washington DC. With chic shops and gourmet restaurants to a mile-long boardwalk loaded with fun family activities, there's always some festive event to attend in Rehoboth Beach.

One of the best ways to experience the abundant wildlife that resides in the Delaware shore area is via kayak. As you paddle out into Rehoboth Bay you'll be able to view a variety of herons, ducks and shorebirds. Kayakers in the Delaware Bay get a spectacular view of the Breakwater and Harbor of Refuge lighthouses as well as a close-up look at rare birds including nesting osprey, oystercatchers, and terns.

Dewey Beach nearby offers vacationers lots of recreation, including windsurfing and jet skiing on the bay to skim boarding along the oceans' edge. If you're looking for a great night out on the town, Dewey Beach is the place to enjoy a exciting evening out exploring the eclectic, casual restaurants and pubs.

On the laid back side of Delaware is what are known as the quiet resort towns of Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island. Here, you'll find a peaceful, family friendly destination with picturesque cottages for rent, great antique hunting, cozy restaurants, and a boardwalk reminiscent of yesteryear.

When traveling throughout Delaware you'll find quaint coastal towns with historic tales to tell. Those seeking a relaxing day at the beach will enjoy fun in the sun at Delaware's pristine beaches such as in Lewes. With a rich nautical past, one can unwind on the sunny beaches and imagine what life was life for sailors who traversed these waters. After taking in the sun and scenery head into Lewes for a tour of the historic house, browse through the unique boutiques, craft shops, and sample local culinary favorites at the many restaurants specializing in local seafood.

When in Lewes, spend the day swimming, sea shell searching, or hiking in Cape Henlopen State Park. This beautiful nature sanctuary has paved bike trails to cruise along, and for photographers, there's a WW II observation tower that offers a great bird's eye view of the coast. Ideal for families, Cape Henlopen State Park also has the Seaside Nature Center's where you can get up close with the sea life with touch tanks and educational programs like seining in the Delaware Bay.
