Delaware Wine and Beer Festival





Gather friends and family for the annual Delaware Wine and Beer Festival that take place in Mid October in Dover, Delaware. Paul Cullen, former bassist with Bad Company, will perform on acoustic guitar. The Delaware Artisan Faire will feature 25 Delaware artists selling sea glass jewelry, painted glassware, fiber arts, photography, prints and more. This event will feature many fun activities throughout the day, including music, a Keg tossing competition, Corn hole tournament, as well as Wine and Beer Seminars. Also, during the festivities they will announce the Logo Contest Winner.

For the artist in your group, there's still time to enter the contest, which has a deadline of September 12, 2012. The contest winner is awarded $250 cash and four tickets to both the 2012 and 2013 Delaware Wine & Beer Festivals, for a total value of $450. Judges will select the winning entry and the Delaware Wine & Beer Festival Committee will make the final decision. Only three designs can be submitted per person, and the winning entry will be the sole property of Kent County Tourism and the Delaware Wine & Beer Festival. Participants must be at least 18 years of age to enter and there is no entry fee.

When thinking about a logo design consider these rules: The entry logos must be distinct, unique and representative of the event, and be clear and identifiable at small sizes like 4x4. They should be aesthetically able to fit in with a broad range of site and application designs. As well as provide a clear silhouette that can be rendered in multiple colors, black and white and gray tones. Files must be submitted in JPG, GIF or PNG formats; however please be prepared to provide high resolution or vector graphic versions of your work if need.

The Annual Delaware Wine and Beer Festival, sponsored by Kent County Tourism, is offering 10 samples for $25 in advance with and $35 at the door. Be sure to get your tickets early because there are a limited number of tickets available this year. Advance ticket sales will end October 15, and the buyers will receive a souvenir wine or beer glass at no additional charge. Children 12 and younger are Free, and admission for those not joining in the tasting or designated drivers is only $5.

During the festival you can enjoy full pours of wine and beer for sale from all 10 of Delaware's wineries and breweries will participate including 16 Mile Brewing Company, Georgetown; Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Milton; Evolution Craft Brewing, Delmar; Fenwick Wine Cellars, Fenwick Island; Fordham/Dominion Brewing Company, Dover; Nassau Valley Vineyards, Lewes; Pizzadili Vineyard & Winery, Felton; Stewarts Brewing Company, Bear; and Twin Lakes Brewery, Greenville. Private wine label Sonata Wines of Millsboro, will also participate. And, non-alcoholic beverages, and savory selections from local restaurants will also be available to sample.

Several of the area hotels, which include the AmericInn Hotel & Suites in Milford and Harrington, the Hampton Inn Dover, and Holiday Inn Express Harrington are offering special rates with great amenities and tickets to the festival. While in town there are other great sites to see like the Artisan Faire at historic Belmont Hall in Smyrna. The First State Heritage Park will offer free walking tours every half hour starting at the John Bell House on The Green in Dover. And, the Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover will host "The Drifters Then & Now," for which you can order tickets by calling 302-678-5152.
