Happy World Anthropology Day, held the third Thursday in February, and is when we share a glimpse inside the world of anthropologists.
Once the Indiana's Central State Hospital, the preserved 1896 research laboratory at the Indiana Medical History Museum holds medical specimens for studies. Step within the teaching amphitheater, and imagine the lessons on human anatomy students witnessed. There is a guided tour of the Indiana Medical History Museum that features:
- Informative tour of library
- Historical photography and medical items
- Exploration of the laboratories and other rooms with the building
While on the tour of the Indiana Medical History Museum you’ll have the chance to ask questions. And, you may have a few when the tour visits the anatomical museum that houses many preserved specimens - like brains. The museum does host events, which vary from genealogy to forensic science and other topics. See their website for more information.
Before the pharmacy, people turned to their gardens for simple relief from colds to upset stomachs. The beauty of the gardens is the variety of blooms to witness throughout the seasons. The handy plaques in the gardens feature detailed information on each plant grown in this Indiana region compared to the warmer southern area.

Option 1: From Warman Ave., turn west onto Kirkbride Way (look for the blue Mounted Horse Patrol sign). Follow Kirkbride through one stop sign and around the curve to reach the Museum.
Option 2: From Tibbs Ave., turn east onto Kirkbride Way. The Museum will be on your left at the stop sign.
