Help Find Missing Kids with NCMEC

It's been 30 years now since Soul Asylum released the video for their 1993 hit song "Runaway Train." The song written by Soul Asylum, frontman, Dave Pirner, and guitarist, Dan Murphy, was the lead single from their album, Grave Dancers Union. And, would later go on to help find missing children.

This update highlights the increase in teenager suicides in the United States - which concerned the band. Then, they heard the story of 17-year-old, Amber Steinbach. She committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Omaha, Nebraska. Her death was the inspiration for Runaway Train, which featured 36 real-life children who had gone missing. At that time, 21 of the children were found or returned home as a result of the video.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children continues the fight to keep children safe. Because the first campaign was so helpful, they have reimagined "Runaway Train" with new artists and a dynamic music video that updates itself with missing children from the database.
