Whether we go the a lake or travel to the beach, having a umbrella to protect us from the sun is a must. The only problem we've found is the burst of wind that blows in suddenly, and then, there goes the umbrella, hurling across the sand. We rushed about to catch it with frightening stories of people being struck in the heads or impaled by umbrella's. After a couple of times we stopped taking it. Less worry, although we had to apply more sun screen.

A Clever Idea By Two Moms

Later, we heard about these two mothers, Bess Abraham and Kathleen Pisano, who got together and created the Noblo Umbrella Buddy. They met at the beach in Ocean Grove, NJ, and had witnessed accounts were people were hurt from lost umbrella's. Then they started talking and soon they decided to create a simple product that would encourage more beach lovers to anchor their umbrellas, creating a safer environment for everyone on the beach.

The wonderful thing about the Noblo Umbrella Buddy is that it is manufactured in New Jersey and packaged by citizens with disabilities through the Center for Vocational Rehabilitation in Eatontown, NJ. So, their helps us while helping others as well. Why we did not think of it ourselves amazes me? It's such a great idea; the Noblo Umbrella Buddy is small, and will fit in your pocket, backpack or beach bag. And, you just use the sand that's available right there at your feet to weigh down your umbrella and keep the gust of wind from sending it spiraling down the beach.

The umbrella is now back in our beach kit, and thanks to a few creative women we can go back to enjoying a little piece of paradise in the sand.
