Enjoy Nature and Recreation In Any Season At A National Park

 

Celebrate The Summer At A National ParkWhatever time of the year you visit our national parks you'll find natural beauty and recreation to enjoy. And, for many who visited these parks on June 21, the first day of summer they found out the National Park Service had waived all entrance fees; which was a nice surprise. With 394 national parks across America there are plenty of opportunities to explore the history and natural beauty that surrounds you on your getaway, and here are a few suggestions:

  • Alaska - Catch a sled dog demonstration at Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska.
  • Arizona - Explore the heavens at night during a Star Party at Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.
  • California - Enjoy a sunset on the longest day of the year at a beach party at John Muir National Historic Site in California.
  • DC - View the works by artist Peter Waddell on your visit to the White House in DC.
  • Georgia - Learn more about the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area in Georgia while on a guided tour.
  • Kansas - Capture the natural beauty of Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in Kansas.
  • Louisiana - Kick off your heels and join a free Cajun dance or music lesson at Jean Lafitte National Park and Preserve in Louisiana.
  • Maine - Soak in the day’s first rays on top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park in Maine.
  • Maryland - Join a scenic wagon ride at Oxen Cove Farm in Maryland.
  • Massachusetts - Head East and tour the Three Sisters Lighthouses in Cape Cod National Seashore or visit the Frederick Law Olmstead National Historic Site in Massachusetts.
  • Mississippi - Celebrate history at a living history event at Vicksburg National Military Park in Mississippi.
  • New Mexico -  Sunset or sunrise, either are stunning Casa Rinconada in Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico or go hiking at the White Sands National Monument not far away.
  • Tennessee -  While in Tennessee take a guided caravan tour of Stones River National Battlefield.
  • Texas - Or, discover natures treasures at Padre Island National Seashore in Texas.
  • Utah - Sit back and relax on a free bus tour of Zion National Park in Utah.
  • Virginia - If you're traveling to Virginia be sure to join the festivities commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War with a Camp for Kids at Cedar Creek & Belle Grove National Historical Park.

As you can see there are endless adventures awaiting at our nation's National Park!
