Former Pan Am Flight Attendants Give Back Through World Wings International
World Wings International, Inc. has spread its wings and embraces thousands
in need of assistance over the years. The organization of former Pan Am
flight attendants has been recognized by the Pan Am Historical Foundation
for their contributions with prestigious Clipper Heritage Award.
Celebrating Those Who Giving Back - The award recognizes humanitarian contributions involving aviation. In making the presentation at the 75th Anniversary Celebrations for Pan Am's launch of the first Transpacific Flight, PAHF Chairman Edward Trippe praised World Wings for "adopting, from its inception, Pan American's historic commitment to country and to service and for carrying that tradition forward by tirelessly fostering volunteerism and charitable giving."
"We are thrilled and honored to have World Wings International's efforts recognized so prominently," says World Wings President Norma Simon, noting that since its inception in 1959, World Wings International has donated over $3 million to various charitable causes.
World Wings joins several prominent aviation and philanthropic pioneers and previous recipients, including Bob and Lila Macauley, founders of AmeriCares; Al Ueltschi, founder of Project Orbis, the flying eye hospital; Sir Richard Branson, for his 25 million dollar prize for a cleaner and greener aviation fuel, and The Boeing Commercial Airplane Company on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Boeing 707, which officially launched the Jet Age.
Take
a break from the world of high tech and slip back to the golden age of
flight with the new Pan Am Series on ABC on Sunday nights. Pan Am is
entertaining Drama starring Christina Ricci as Maggie, Kelli Garner as Kate,
Karine Vanasse as Colette, Margot Robbie as Laura, Jonah Lotan as Dean and
Michael Mosley as Ted.
I
can remember my parents owning a Pan Am Flight Bags, and taking it
everywhere. These flight bags were once presented to Pan Am first class
passengers at check-in during the 60's. Over the years you could spot many
stars toting their Pan Am bags through check out, which include Joe
DiMaggio, Judy Garland, as well as the Beatles.
