Fouquet's Barrière is one of the most ecologically responsible
five-star hotel in Paris, and recently launched 'Harvest
Fouquet's Barrière,' a special wine-making program in which all
proceeds go towards the reforestation of the Landes forest,
Europe's largest maritime pine forest.
In 2008 the Landes Forest was partially destroyed during a storm, and efforts continue to bring this natural treasure back. The Harvest Fouquet's Barrière events are conducted by employees of Hotel Fouquet's Barrière along with a team from winemaker Marie-Laure Lurton. The first harvest was held on October 2, 2010 at Chateau La Tour de Bessan Margaux.
During this event a total of 3,000 bottles of wine were sold, and raising almost $59,414.00. All proceed received will helped support the continuing efforts to re-plant the 99 acres of the Landes forest. Another Harvest Fouquet's Barrière took place in March 2011 with the participation of Philippe Faure-Brac, one of the world's leading sommeliers.
