When In Punta Gorda You Must Visit Rick Treworgy's Muscle Car City

When you’re looking for local attractions to visit in Punta Gorda be sure to check out Rick Treworgy’s Muscle Car City, located at 3811 Tamiami Trail. I also want to point out a exceptional place for lunch or dinner; the Torch Bistro, so pay attention. As you’re driving down Tamiami Trail – Highway 41, you’ll pass several car dealers – specifically the Toyota dealer, which has a big red sign, then there’s a Buick dealer on the right side of the road – just after the Buick (Lincoln Mercury) dealer is where the Torch Bistro is located. Now, that you know where Torch is, keep driving as you’ll see a Walgreen’s, the Rick Treworgy’s Muscle Car City is just beyond there.

Rick Treworgy’s Muscle Car City is a car fans dream filled with almost 200 GM cars dating from the the mid 60’s to early 70’s. It’s actually more than just a Car Museum; it’s a time capsule. Just as music can take us back to a certain point in time, so to the classic cars at  Rick Treworgy’s Muscle Car City that revive the memories of our Glory Days cruising down the highway in our babies like the one pictured of above which I once owned.

Each of Rick’s sweet rides is well taken care of, and he not only collects cars, he also has many for sale, and has parts for these muscle machines. One of the unique vehicles my wife, Melody, loved was the Gypsy Wagon you’ll find in the back; it’s a beauty! Then again, so are all of the cars in Rick’s collection. Rick also host annual cruise-in’s, which is a time to visit the Flea Market that takes place during the event. And, Rick’s a generous man, who’s events helps raise funds for local charities like the Ronald McDonald House. If you’re looking for a special part or just love cars, Rick Treworgy’s Muscle Car City is a must-see when visiting Punta Gorda, Florida.

After your done at the car museum head back in the direction you came and you’ll see a Publix on the left, the Torch Bistrio is located across the street at 2113 Tamiami Trail, and drop in for lunch; it’s worth the stop! Just as the beauties at Rick’s Muscle Car City are works of art, so is the food you’ll enjoy at the Torch Bistro. We dined here for dinner, and were surprised by the industrial chic design, which you would find more so in New York, than expect in Florida.

The prices at Torch are very reasonable for the exceptional food offered compared to some places where you pay more for less. The Calamari we ordered as a starter was tender, with a unique sauce. The steak on their Friday menu was cooked and seasoned just right, and served with mashed potatoes that were, as my wife, Melody said, “Divine.” The wonderful thing about Torch is their Chef’s mix up the menu about every eight weeks with locally grown produce and meat. So, you can always experience something new on your visit.

Torch starts serving lunch at 11:30am, and closes at 9pm. The Rumtini Bar, which is a great twist on the Martini Bar, offers a interesting selections of rum drinks, as well as others. The atmosphere is at Torch is casual and inviting, and the staff is excellent, and go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable. Before we even thought to ask for a refill on our drink someone was there to do it, and see if we needed anything else. Torch Bistro is defiantly worth the drive wherever you’re staying in Florida if you want to experience the art of exceptional food and service!
