Living
in historic Salt Lake City is more than a history lesson; it is a city that
allows indulgences to be met on every level. This beautiful city sits in a
valley, near a salt-water lake, and is surrounded by not just mountains, but
by opportunities to experience Mother Nature at her finest.
Salt Lake City is like no other city in that one can enjoy the metropolitan life while still being able to get away from it all with no more than a thirty minute drive. Living in the city allows one to enjoy all of the sites and sounds such as the Utah Jazz, the state's pride and joy, or see a Broadway musical in the Capitol Theater. Liberty Park lets one experience kayaking and canoeing after a family barbecue, while the Gateway mall allows indulgences to be satisfied as the mall offers more than 90 stores and 15 restaurants.
Escaping, however, is just as easy. One can simply take I-80 through Parley's canyon and make his or her way to Park City, home of the 2002 Olympic games. Year round, one can enjoy the beautiful sites, sounds, and shopping that Park City has to offer. In the summer, Park City offers fun attractions such as hiking, mountain biking, the alpine slide, and golf. In the winter, one can choose from one of three world-class ski resorts, such as Deer Valley, and become acquainted with the charm that won the world over during the Olympic games.
Park City, however, is not the only haven near Salt Lake City. With over five lakes within forty miles, one can choose between boating, fishing, water skiing, or simply just swimming while being able to enjoy serene surrounding and simply forgetting that a city lies just over the hills. Salt Lake is more than a city; it is an escape that offers individuals the choice of living the city life, or retreating to the hills and simply unwinding. With as many things to do within the city, as there are things to do outside of the city, Salt Lake is the ideal place to live.
What To Do
Site and more to explore in Salt Lake City
In
downtown Salt Lake, one may satisfy the taste for art by visiting the
Capitol Theater and viewing a Broadway show, by hearing Beethoven's fifth
symphony inside the beautiful Abravanel Hall, or by listening to the world
famous Mormon Tabernacle choir in the elegant conference center. One may
also visit one of many art shows and concerts that are continually occurring
in convention centers, theaters, or surrounding cities such as the
Shakespearean Festival held in Cedar City, or the Sundance film festival
held in Park City.
Shopping In Salt Lake - If shopping is more one's forte, Salt Lake has plenty to offer. Within a few blocks of each other are located three shopping centers: the ZCMI Center, Crossroads mall, and The Gateway Mall; all three offering premier shopping and a wide variety of tastes and are easily accessible by Salt Lake's commuter rail, Trax.
Getting around Salt Lake is as easy as getting away from Salt Lake. The city is nestled up in the mountains and surrounded by opportunities to explore hiking and biking trails, fishing spots, and lakes for boating. However, unwinding in the cold months comes just as easily. With over seven ski resorts to choose from, it isn't too hard to see why so many people here refer to the winter simply as "ski season". Seeing what Salt Lake has to offer, it really isn't a question as to why so many people are making the city their home.
