Fiesta West Texas is the largest annual Hispanic exposition in West Texas. More than 45,000 people attend each year
and it is expected to grow each year. Held at the Ector County
Coliseum; Fiesta West Texas is an extraordinary event held on the first
weekend of May of each year to commemorate Cinco de Mayo. Cinco de Mayo
being the battle of Puebla when a small Mexican army defeated the French
army on May 5, 1962. This date was established as a symbolic of the
Mexicans’ courage against a formidable army.
During the Fiesta West Texas celebration guests enjoy spectacular shows that come from around the world. Such as The world famous Circos Flores, Adriatic White Tigers, Live Shark Encounters, the Sea Lion Show, and the ESPN X-Games. The Ector County Coliseum also host events like the Permian Basin Fair, Oil Show, Sandhills Rodeo, Odessa’s Hockey home games, International Football home games, Odessa’s Super Car Show.
For many the Fiesta West Texas event is also known for its entertainment featuring live concerts each night. Some of the most popular artists are brought to Fiesta West Texas like Los Lonely Boys, Kumbia Kings, La Mafia, Los Rieleros, Super Odisea, Bobby Pulido, Los Tigrillos, Adolfo Urias and Food Booth.
One of Fiesta’s primary goals is to give back to the community. A total of $25,000 has been granted to the Mexican American Scholarship Committee so that local college students in the Odessa area seeking a degree could benefit from it. The Mexican American Scholarship Committee will join us again in the future to help these students fulfill their dreams.
