Whenever I work in the garden the world around me disappears. I find myself
relaxing, and letting go of thoughts of work and the daily grind. Here, in my
garden I nurture not only the plants, but also my spirit, which always feels
refreshed when I am done for the day. A visit to the Cleveland Botanical Garden
is such a renewing experience. Here, you can roam among the ten acres of lush,
beautiful gardens and let the world outside slip away.
The Cleveland Botanical Garden, which is located in Cleveland's University Circle, has an extensive collection of native plants, as well plants from around the world. I love roaming through the rainforest area where there are new and interesting plants, butterflies, as well as animals and reptiles to see. In fact, we discovered a variety of amazing cacti that we would have never known existed without a visit to the Cleveland Botanical Garden. I also find it enjoyable speaking to other gardeners and professionals, who give us insight into the variety of plants grown in the award-winning gardens.
At the Cleveland Botanical Garden you'll find yourself losing track of time as you enjoy the bright hues in the Rose Garden, savor the intoxicating fragrances of the scented plants in the Western Reserve Herb Society Garden, relax in the spirituality and symbolism of the Japanese Garden. Bring along your camera to capture nature in her glory, and the excited smiles of children playing in the Children’s Garden. This is a special treat for kids of all ages, where youngsters can hide away in a magical tree house retreat, steal a scent of a mint leaf, or get up close with the frogs, turtles and fish in the pond. One of our favorite parts of the gardens is viewing the unusual perennials in the Perennial Border, and the amazing Topiary Garden.
