The Remick Museum and Farm Captures New England's Heritage and Charm

Trek off the beaten path for a scenic drive in New Hampshire and you'll find places like the Remick Museum and Farm in Tamworth where the history of rural lifestyle can be experienced first-hand. The Museum holds special events throughout the year and is Free to the public. Experience 200 years of New Hampshire agricultural, domestic history, and seasonal farming practices like haying to ice harvesting. The annual events include the Ice Harvesting and Winter Carnival in February, and the Maple Sugaring Event in March when you can enjoy Maple Sugaring Group Tours. And there is a Children's Fishing Derby held in May, and in June are Historic Tea Gathering, which are also held in September.

Later in the year is the Auction and the Art of Homesteading in August, and the Harvest Halloween Festival in October. As fall settles in be sure to join the Historic Thanksgiving event in November when the farm celebrates the unity of our past with the present. And, the holidays are especially cheerful during Christmas on the Farm when there are Holiday Luncheons and Sleigh Rides! Also held during the year are day camp programs for children that offer an opportunity to explore life on the farm, visit with farm animals, enjoy craft-making, historic cooking and more!

One of the events that is truly enjoyable are the Hearthside Dinners that are cooked entirely on the open hearth. Dressed in traditional 19th century attire, the Remick staff prepares a hearty and nourishing meal using historic recipes and ingredients preserved fresh from the harvest. Each Hearthside Dinners is unique and is a wonderful way for couples to enjoy a memorable evening together.

The beauty of visiting the Remick Museum and Farm is you can experience New England's rich agricultural history any time of the year. With special events annually, each trip to the farm is unique and is wonderful for families. For children there are many interactive activities and exhibits that are fun and educational, and a great way to learn about our pioneer history.
