A Diamond in the Ruff - Silver Lake, Michigan
The western shoreline of the state of Michigan is one of few states in which you can watch the sunset over a large body of water that looks just like an ocean. It is just like seeing a sunset over the Pacific Ocean in the states of California, Oregon and the state of Washington or over the Gulf of Mexico in the state of Florida. To me, Sunsets are one of life’s pleasurable moments as you watch the Sun’s huge ball of fire melt down into the deep blue waters as it makes colors reflect of a variable of reds, oranges and yellows. The colors amaze me as they shimmer off the blues of the water into a burst in colors into the sky reflecting off any cloud in its wake of color ascending off the water. Some sunsets are just spectacular and Michigan western shoreline is noted for some of the most spectacular sunsets in the United States. I have seen many and some just simply take your breath away in beauty.
The western shoreline is also full of picturesque small towns, inlets and harbors with a lot of shops, restaurants, and plenty for everyone to do. The most notable place I have found is what I call “the diamond in the ruff” of the western shoreline of Michigan, called Silver Lake located in Oceana County.
This town is so much fun and full of so much excitement! Adventure isn’t just a word here. This is a place you can enjoy pure awesome fun with taking your Jeep, 4-wheel drive or dune buggy out on the famous 2 sq. miles of open to the public BIG huge sand dunes. You can take the wheel and see just what they are made of by trying to climb to the top of Test Hill or just cruise around the dunes and enjoy the scenery.
For those who stay in-town or you’re done playing on the sand dunes for the day, can go and jump into a fast riding go-cart at one of the two tracks in town and race you way to the finish line. I always thought it is fun to beat a friend or family member to the finish line.
You can also have fun riding on the bumper cars or on a bicycle through town. Or, go and try to make some hole in one’s playing miniature golf or go into an arcade to beat the computers.
