Lexington, Kentucky is preparing for a grand event; the
International Equestrian Festival that will be held at the Lexington Convention
Center at the End September - Mid October. Presented by HRTV (the television and
broadband network for horse sports), the International Equestrian Festival
(IEF), held daily from 1 p.m. - 9 p.m., offers live horse demonstrations and
educational seminars, an international shopping expo, hospitality, and a wide
variety of additional activities and entertainment.
Among the special guest appearing at the International Equestrian Festival is trainer and clinician, Julie Goodnight, who is best known for her award-winning reality television show “Horse Master”, which airs weekly on RFD-TV. Julie will hosts daily seminars and demonstrations on various topics, including:
1. Build Your Confidence!
2. Be the Best Rider You Can
3. Inside the Horse’s Mind
4. Life Lessons that Horses Teach Us
5. Find and Buy the Perfect Horse
Goodnight is also available to answer questions one-on-one throughout the Festival. Her “Goodnight Village” is part of our international shopping expo and features Goodnight’s full line of tack and training DVDs, as well as Kestar Boots and Circle Y Saddles, among others.
Also appearing is Monty Roberts, the author of three New York Times best-sellers, including "The Man Who Listens to Horses," which catapulted the trainer and Hollywood stunt man to fame, and shared his Join~Up® training method to horse lovers across the globe. Mr. Roberts will present in Ecotrack Park on Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26 at 3 p.m. Using Lexington area horses, he will present “Gentling your Spooky Horse,” “Overcoming Headshy,” “Fear of the Clippers,” or “Six Imperatives for an Enjoyable Ride,” depending on the horses’ particular training needs. Unique to his presentation at the International Equestrian Festival - and the first time it's been presented in the United States - is Roberts' use of a heart-rate monitor on each horse to illustrate the effectiveness of his methods.
And, don't miss Dusty, a Kentucky Mountain Horse, and his trainer. Mark Peterson. Known as “the greatest entertainer in the equine industry today,” Mark Peterson will appear twice daily (2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.) during the International Equestrian Festival. Mark and Dusty present “Breaking the Language Barrier,” which highlights the duo’s unique relationship, as well as Peterson’s unprecedented training methods. Mark Peterson is a horseman, wildlife behaviorist and wildlife tracker. He and Dusty have been featured on many popular television shows and, since 2008, have criss-crossed the country performing for, and sharing their techniques with, audiences both large and small.
As for entertainment at the International Equestrian Festival, you can catch Templeton Thompson, who combines her love for both horses and music by performing at equestrian events across the country, as well as Europ and Japan. She’s written songs for many top artists, including Reba McEntire, Jo Dee Messina and Little Texas, and also has four CDs to her credit. A worldwide ambassador for the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association, Thompson will both perform her music for attendees and show her Planet Cowgirl apparel line at her booth in the Shopping Expo.
And, Autograph sessions by legendary jockeys Ron Turcotte, Jean Cruguet, Steve Cauthen, Pat Day and Calvin Borel, and a special signing by Kate Tweedy of her book, "Secretariat's Meadow," will take place at the Horze stage and display at the International Equestrian Festival, which runs now through October 10 at the downtown Lexington Convention Center.
This is just a glimpse at the exciting demonstrations and entertainment you'll experience at the International Equestrian Festival!
