Spring Tours and Attractions In Limestone Country, By Melody Schubert

It's Spring, and one of the fun places to visit in Indiana is Limestone Country, where the Nature Center at Spring Mill State Park in Mitchell is open daily 10am-5pm through Oct. The Nature Center overlooks Spring Mill Lake and is filled with exhibits on the park’s natural and cultural history.

Out and About In Southern Indiana's Limestone Country and Beyond

While in Limestone Country be sure to visit the Bluespring Caverns in Bedford that is also open for tours, weather permitting, of course. The tours are guided underground boat rides on a subterranean river, and is a unique experience for everyone!

Learning gardening tips and more at the Lawn and Patio Show in Bedford.Over in Bedford at the Lawrence County 4-H Fairgrounds you can join the Lawn & Patio Show. During this event Lawrence County Master Gardeners will be on hand for the Blooms a Busting Lawn & Patio Show for plant workshops, vendors, garden crafts, landscaping topics and recycling methods. And, the best part is that admission is free!

Coming up over the second weekend in April be sure to visit the Indiana Artisan Marketplace in Indianapolis at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, Indianapolis, where you can drop by the Limestone Country’s booth and learn about the new Limestone Trail, a route that winds through Lawrence and Monroe counties and features the area’s limestone heritage, art, architecture and attractions. The Indiana Artisan Marketplace is a fun event where you can buy one-of-a-kind artwork and artisan food directly from the Hoosiers who made them. And, if you visit the Limestone Country Visitors Center in Mitchell or Chamber of Commerce office in Bedford you can pick up a $3 off admission coupon for the event.

Touring The Indiana Uplands Wine Trail

Sample Vintage Wines Along The Indiana Uplands Wine TrailIf you're interested in sampling some vintage wines, then travel along the Indiana Uplands Wine Trail, which offers unique tours, and programs that include tours, tasting, and wine & food pairings at each of the wineries on the trail. One of the popular Spring events is March Gladness that features a progressive dinner with a unique dish served at each Indiana Upland Winery, and other events are held throughout the year. The Uplands Wine Trail, which showcases nine wineries throughout southern Indiana, including Carousel Winery in Bedford, is a wonderful way to get out and enjoy Indiana's beautiful Limestone Country.
