At the America's Polo Cup this past May 2008, the Embassy of Australia publicly accepted and announced that Australia has officially challenged the United States for the America's Polo World Cup to take place at the Capitol Polo Club in May. This challenge includes Sports, Fashion, Food, Wine & Musical Diversity.

In September the America's Cup was on display to the public to view and take photographs of during the pre-event celebration at the DC National Mall Polo Grounds. The Cup will then be relocated to Embassy of Australia until America's Polo Cup Eve in Early May.

Both the Australians and the Americans are equally confident in an upcoming victory for their country. Team captain and President Tareq Salahi comments, "The US Polo Team is very proud to have won back the Americas Cup when we played the Italians last year - we recognize that the Australians are incredibly competitive and the US Polo Team will be preparing between now and 2009 to keep the Cup here in America!"
