DC Travel Guide
Washington DC became the nation's capital in July of 1790. It was George Washington, the nation's first president , for whom the city was named, and who chose the location. When the British forces invaded in the War of 1812 much of the city was destroyed by fire. Washington DC has risen from the ashes to become a voice for the nation, and a destination which holds dear the history of its people.
