Join The Camp Verde Wine, Pecan And Antique Festival, And Verde Valley Wine Tour

Weekend getaways in Arizona's Camp Verde offer savory delights to sample. Start your trip by visiting the Camp Verde Wine, Pecan and Antique Festival one day, and the next, enjoy a Verde Valley Wine Tour.

Camp Verde, which is the gateway to the Verde Valley in the HEART of Arizona, enjoys a long agricultural history. Each year, the Camp Verde Parks and Recreation Department honors the community's rural makeup by hosting a popular Wine, Pecan and Antique Festival.

This festival showcases ONLY Arizona wineries, including up and coming local Verde Valley vineyards. Keeping in the spirit of its abundant ranching and farming heritage, a new cottage industry of grape-to-wine production has cropped up in recent years in close proximity to Camp Verde with five nearby tasting rooms. One of these wineries is the Alcantara Vineyard located between Camp Verde and Cottonwood, this vineyard is snuggled along the beautiful Verde River and features a lovely Tuscan farm-style tasting room; open daily.

We enjoy a variety of nuts, including pecan pie, and if you do as well then the Camp Verde Wine, Pecan And Antique Festival is the perfect place to sample Pecan products from local growers. Along with wines, and delicious treats to sample, the festival has over 30 booths with antiques and collectibles from vendors throughout the Southwest. There are free hayrides and tours of Summer Place Pecan Farm, demonstrations provided by the Yavapai County Master Gardeners, and live entertainment.

Among the wineries at this exciting event are: Jerome Winery: In the cliff-side old mining town of Jerome, this winery is family owned with 80 acres under production in Wilcox. Its charming tasting room offers a shaded outside patio and spectacular afternoon Verde Valley views (closed Tuesdays). Next discover a winery trio, all within a few miles of one another in the Page Springs/Cornville area.

Page Springs Cellars: This Rhone House is family owned and kid friendly with a shady patio, a deck along Oak Creek and a tasting room; open daily.

Oak Creek Vineyards and Winery: This vineyard with a large tasting room specializes in Rhone and Bordeaux varieties; open daily.

Javelina Leap Winery: This six-acre winery features Zinfandels and reds; open weekends.

This award-winning event is held Friday-Sunday in early February, and has been held in the Camp Verde Community Center in downtown Camp Verde. With so much to experience a weekend getaway in Camp Verde may not be enough to enjoy everything!
