Explore Interactive Exhibits, Star Wars, And Scientific Experiments At The U.S. Space And Rocket Center In Huntsville
"We've had a year to get ready, so we're going to have had some fun with it," says Larry Capps, the Space & Rocket Center's CEO. To celebrate the occasion many venues across the state had visits from Star Wars characters all around the State and Southeast promoting the event.
The temporary exhibit at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center filled the Center's original museum building with costumes, models and props from all six movies in the Star Wars saga. These special exhibits often feature many interactive exhibits, hands-on displays and laboratories where you can conduct your own scientific experiments. Among the popular exhibits was one on magnetic levitation and another in which you experience an augmented virtual reality. And, there was a replica of the Millennium Falcon cockpit in which you could experience a multimedia presentation about making the jump to lightspeed!
Space Center officials teamed up with the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitor's Bureau, the North Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association, and the Alabama Department of Tourism to offer special deals for a vacation getaway as well. "From the mountains to the beaches, from Shakespeare to the space program, there's so much to see and do in Alabama," according to Holly Beach, the USSRC's Vice President of Marketing. During this event is a great time to schedule your trip to Space Camp.
The 501st Legion, an international fan-based organization dedicated to the construction and wearing of screen-accurate replicas of various characters from the Star Wars movies, and their members also joined the event at the Space & Rocket Center for this extraordinary exhibit. This is just one of the extraordinary events that take place at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, where science and imagination unite!
The Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit will travel the country, so look for it at your local museum or Science center.
