Keep Mosquito's Away With The Don’t Bite Me! Patch, By Melody Schubert

The Don’t Bite Me! Patch -

Each year the mosquito seem to get worse, and this year may be the same according to Weather Experts, who say the heavy rains and warm weather increase the mosquito population.

This season you can help reduce mosquito eggs from hatching around the house by removing any standing water, which can be found in flower pots, bird baths, old tires, and keep swimming pool water treated and circulating. This at least can help reduce the amount of mosquito's in you're area.

The next thing to do is be prepared. In most cases this means grabbing a bottle of sprays containing DEET, which has been recommended by Environmental Protection Agency.

Researchers are starting to look into the possible dangers of using DEET, which is an insect repelling chemical found in 90% of insect repellents on the market.

"N,N-Diethyl-3-methylbenzamide (DEET) remains the gold standard for insect repellents. About 200 million people use it every year and over 8 billion doses have been applied over the past 50 years.  Despite the widespread and increased interest in the use of deet in public health programmes, controversies remain concerning both the identification of its target sites at the olfactory system and its mechanism of toxicity in insects, mammals and humans." This statement was found in the open access journal BMC Biology.

What does it mean to us? As with all things in life - watch what we use or ingest. And perhaps we should consider natural remedies to deter pesky mosquitoes.

The Environmental Protection Agency offers these suggestions to avoid getting bitten:

* Keep mosquitoes away from exposed skin by wearing long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and socks.
* Tuck shirts into pants and pants into socks to cover gaps in your clothing where mosquitoes can get to your skin.
* Stay indoors at sunrise, sunset, and early in the evening when mosquitoes are most active. They also offer comparisons between different repellants as well.

When it comes to natural products, the Don’t Bite Me! Patch offers a natural solution in a topical patch. Made from two natural ingredients, Vitamin B1 and Aloe, the clear and discreet, topical Don’t Bite Me! Patch delivers Vitamin B1 and Aloe throughout the body which reduces human odors attractive to biting insects.

Simply apply the waterproof skin patch to a dry, hairless area of the body two hours before going outdoors, and enjoy 36 hours of reduced attractiveness to biting insects.

Vitamin B1 is the key ingredient in the Don’t Bite Me! Patch, and when
applied to the skin, metabolizes in the body to reduce the human odor that
is attractive to insects.

The Vitamin B1-based formula is absorbed into the
bloodstream through the patch, and excess B1 is excreted through the body’s pores, creating a slight odor that is almost undetectable to humans but forms a protective barrier around the body.

Aloe, the other key ingredient, contains anti-inflammatory properties and has been reported to alleviate pain and swelling associated with itches and burns.

“Families and outdoor enthusiasts want to enjoy being outside without
constantly worrying about insects,” says Chari Kauffman, co-founder of Don’t Bite Me!  “At the same time, as research continues to build around the potential risks of DEET, particularly for children, parents would rather
rely on natural and safe alternatives to help avoid insects.”

“We’ve heard from a growing number of parents who rave about the convenience of the patch,” adds Kauffman, whose friends have tried the Don’t Bite Me! Patch during a weekend camping trip with their family.  When the mother of the family arrived at her campsite, she discovered she only had two patches with her instead of the four she needed for her family.  She quickly applied the patches to her two daughters.  All weekend, the girls were bite free, while she and her husband were covered with bites.

When compared to sprays, lotions or towelettes - the Don’t Bite Me! Patch offers:
