Winter Escapes at Pocono Mountains’ Bed & Breakfasts , by Iris Dean: Travelers who enjoy fine restaurants, picturesque settings, classically-styled accommodations, historical significance and old-world hospitality should plan a winter escape to one of the lovely bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) of the Pocono Mountains. Whether you're are planning a relaxing retreat, or an action packed late winter escape, a stay at a bed and breakfast in the Pocono Mountains promises a little something extra.
The innkeeper’s hallmark is attention to detail and level of service. At many of the B&Bs, guests enjoy canopy beds with comfortable, matching fabrics decorating the room’s bedding and interior. Chocolates, flowers or champagne are often waiting in-room for guest’s arrival. Luxurious amenities such as Jacuzzis, on-site or near-by activities, gourmet meals, private balconies and in-room fireplaces, to name a few, are also offered at many of the Pocono Mountains’ B&Bs; similar to some major resorts, minus the crowds.
Perhaps
the best thing about a bed and breakfast escape is being
able to do nothing but rest and relax. For doing
nothing, the choices are endless; sleep in or rise
early, enjoy a homemade breakfast, relax on the porch
and spot wildlife and birds, explore the grounds, chat
with other guests, learn the history of the inn from the
innkeeper or spend precious time with loved ones. “The
bed and breakfasts located throughout the four counties
of the Pocono Mountains truly are hidden gems,” says
Robert Uguccioni, executive director of the Pocono
Mountains Vacation Bureau, Inc., “If you haven’t been to
one, now is the time to do it—you won’t be
disappointed.”
The B&Bs of the Pocono Mountains offer plenty of open space to explore and enjoy, a few with over 100 acres. The Pocono Mountains Bed and Breakfast capture the beauty of a by-gone era, where the daily hustle-bustle consisted of picking flowers in time for afternoon tea, and getting ready for the community golf tournament. A number of the B&Bs of the Pocono Mountains are familiar with these times, as some were established as far back as the early to mid 1800’s. The innkeepers invite guests to the Pocono Mountains to experience some old-world charm with contemporary amenities that are sure to keep guests coming back.
