“The March-In Event
commemorates the pivotal moment in the American Revolution when the Continental Army arrived at Valley Forge
on December 19, 1777,” commented Park Superintendent Mike Caldwell. Bring the family and friends to experience the moving reenactment of Washington’s troop’s arrival at the park, commemorating the start of the bitter winter of 1777-78, which tested their spirit and forged them into a fighting force.
Valley Forge National Historical Park holds a 3-day event in commemoration of the Continental Army’s 1777 "March-In"
in Mid-December. The memorable event has been expand from a single to day to include family activities, lantern-light tours, appearances by General Washington and his troops and a commemorative wreath-laying with members of the Armed Forces at National Memorial Arch.
Washington’s bold 1776 Christmas crossing of the Delaware in a successful surprise attack on British troops will be reenacted on Christmas Day, with a dress rehearsal
in Early-December. Tavern life, hearth cooking and family activities will take place at Washington Crossing State Historic Park.
