York County is the site of a plot to overthrow George Washington. If the plot,

Washington may have never become the nation’s first president.
York is also
the first capital of the United States as the Continental Congress adopted the
Articles of Confederation in York. Key attractions for many visitors are the

played an important historical role in World War II. Among the many historical
footnotes was the development of The York Plan, the model used for World War II
production.
