Discover
Crafts and More At The Country Living Fair in Warren County, Ohio, By: Melody
Schubert:
Warren County is where we visited the annual Country Living
Fair. Perhaps, you have read a copy of this crafty magazine that features tips
on everything country? It is here we began are search for the perfect gift. Oh,
but wait, did I mention that this is one of the most anticipated events of the
year in Warren County?
Finding a unique gift for family and friends can be difficult for those who already have everything they want. Okay, not everything, but I'm not going to be the one to buy my friend a new Harley. So, instead I go in search of creative, yet practical gifts. These are gifts that they will enjoy, and that will not end up in next year's yard sale. Warren County, Ohio is a great place to start your hunt because you'll find plenty of entertainment along the way, and many antique shops and specialty shops.
Of
course, we did not realize this until we were running along the highway and
notice everyone ahead of us suddenly pulling to the side of the road in a line.
For some strange reason it did not register what was going on until we noticed
the sign ahead; Country Living Fair. It's a good thing we are patient because
the line did putt along for a bit, although not as long as we anticipated.
After
a few moments of listening to our favorite tunes on the local radio station and
admiring the countryside we reached our destination; a beautiful farm set in
the grass fields of Warren County. The wait was worth it. It is here that pages
of Country Living Magazine come to life. On this day the weather was perfect
for late September; there was a cool breeze and plenty of sunshine. We were met
by two handsome Marines giving out cards to sign for the troops. A few steps
further we found ourselves in the midst of a festive atmosphere filled with
dozens of booths and the enticing smell of kettle corn.
At
the Country Living Fair you can find just about every
hand made item you can think of, and some you could not. We found a Moose,
cuddly bears, and a whale. There were plenty of beads, bangles, bows, and
a buffalo. We found works by some of the country's finest Craftsmen and women
along with antiques and unusual items you probably could not find anywhere
else. Plus, we enjoyed the
WorkShops of David T. Smith, musical entertainment, and a train ride.
This
day of festivity was not just for the adults to shop; there was plenty of fun
for the little ones who enjoyed face painting, and a romp in the hay. Whatever you may have on your list of
impossible gifts to find plan on visiting the Country Living Fair in the
future. You are sure to find that perfect gift for everyone on your list, and a
few things to hang around the house as well!
Thank you to all the guests and creative folks who shared their talent and time on this beautiful September weekend.
