and Local Farms In New Hampshire, by Iris Dean:
Cruise the country roads in New Hampshire
and you’ll never know what you may find around the bend. From a local festival
to pick-your-own strawberry, blueberries & raspberries patches where you're
greeted with warmth and hospitality, to scenic Moose Tours; there's plenty for
everyone to enjoy in New Hampshire.
If you enjoy a trek off the beaten path then New Hampshire is the ideal place to wander. Scenic drives through the country side led you to places like the Remick Museum and Farm in Tamworth where the history of rural lifestyle can be experienced first-hand. The Museum holds special events throughout the year and is Free to the public. Experience 200 years of New Hampshire agricultural, domestic history, and seasonal farming practices like haying to ice harvesting.
While out in the country take a break the kids will enjoy. Stop by Christy and Scott Johnson's 65-acre Johnson's Highland View Farm in Windham, established as a dairy farm in 1884, for a refreshing ice cream or a visit to the petting area. Kids will enjoy petting the llamas, goats, sheep, and cows while parents pick from a selection of fresh vegetable crops or visit the two greenhouses filled with ornamental plants.
There are many opportunities to experience what life is like on a farm in New Hampshire. D Acres of New Hampshire in Dorchester is an organic farm and educational homestead that offers visitors a chance to learn more about sustainable living and small-scale organic farming. D Acres of New Hampshire also has a hostel for guests, and operations include forestry, gardening, administration, animal husbandry, kitchen, alternative construction, and woodworking.
Scenic Moose and Wildlife Tours Make Memorable Vacations
Imagine spotting the largest member of the deer family in New Hampshire; a Moose. The Scenic Moose and Wildlife Tours is a highpoint for anyone visiting New Hampshire's White Mountains. Spotting one of these fabulous woodland creatures is almost assured while on the three-hour journey. Along with Moose there is plenty of other native wildlife, including bald eagle to be seen as you travel along the picturesque Androscoggin River into the 13-Mile Woods.
Visit With Local Merchants & Farmers
Throughout New Hampshire
you’ll find many pick-your-own strawberry, blueberries & raspberries patches.
Nothing reminds me of country charm more than a visit to a working farm or
roadside farm stand where we find fresh, locally grown produce.
Hannah
