A Visit To The Mall of America, By Rita Swieczkowski

Traveling to Minnesota we found the Mall of America, which opened in August of 1992 and is located in Bloomington, Minn., just minutes from downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. It is HUGE! Yes, we did venture in  to see what it was all about.  Inside there
is a 3 story, 7 acre theme park with over 30 rides.  All day tickets are available.  It was so exciting we almost forgot about the
shopping area that surrounds the park.  But of course being true shoppers, we did explore the wonderful shops . . . so many shops.

Who thought going to the mall could be educational?

credits-mallofamericaMall of America has been described as a city within a city. Along with an extensive range of retail, restaurants and entertainment, there are many unique features to Mall of America likely to be found in any community. Not only is the Mall of America an amazing place to shop, dine, and explore attractions, it also offers several educational benefits to the community. The National American University offers students courses in 17 study areas, and is the first-ever college campus in a mall. Area high school students utilize the Metropolitan Learning Alliance, a mall campus available for students from five Minneapolis-area school districts. Plus, there is the South Hennepin Adult Programs in Education (SHAPE) that offers classes in adult basic education and English as a second language.

Entertainment, Shopping, Dining, And More

Getting Around The City Of Minneapolis

The new light-rail Hiawatha Line makes it quick and easy for visitors to get to several key sites in the Twin Cities, including downtown Minneapolis, the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and Mall of America in Bloomington. In December a New Light Rail Line will extend to Airport, and the Mall of America. This is a great way for travelers to get around Minneapolis and see the sites! The regular fare is $1.25, and rush hour fare is $1.75. The trains run every 7 to 15 minutes, depending on the time of day, and every half hour after 9:00 p.m.
